principles. You will need a strong aptitude in Math. Graphical representation of most problems is also required, as is the ability to present problems in form of models. Economics is viewed as both a science and an art. Though it was initially an art, many economists are making the subject more mathematical, what with the introduction of subjects such as econometrics, financial models, financial economics etc. There are however subjects that may interest those interested in pursuing the subject as an art; for instance development economics, political economics etc.
A degree in economics will enable you to work in banks, financial intermediaries, investment companies, insurance companies, government departments and ministries and any research outfit involved in economic planning. Many economics degree holders also do add some finance /accounting/Statistics qualifications so that they become more marketable.
