Bachelor of Science in Agricultural engineering- The course and where one can work.

The agricultural industry is considered one of the backbones of the national economy and plays an extremely important role in every Kenyan's life by supplying the food we eat and other farm products we consume.

Students will learn to design equipment and tools utilized in the agriculture sector, maintain machine, equipment and other tools used in the production of goods in a factory or a manufacturing set up. Agricultural engineers develop new farming technologies so farmers can produce higher yields of higher-quality, more nutritious and safer food

The engineering technologist has an important role in implementing technological knowledge in a changing world. The goal of this course is to combine an understanding of the biological, physical and agricultural sciences with the problem-solving skills of an engineer.

The course aims to provide graduates who can make meaningful contributions to the productivity, efficiency and competitiveness of agricultural services and manufacturing companies; who can help in the development of new products and who can aid in the development of new markets, both internally and abroad.

0ne will
also need to learn some technical drawing skills, get to know some workshop skills such as the operation of the lathe machine, drilling machine etc. One will also need some high aptitude for Math in order to excel in the profession.

Many agricultural engineering graduates find work in any manufacturing set up, government agencies while others may work on the consulting end

The job prospects of agricultural engineering graduates are somewhat similar to the job prospects of mechanical engineering graduates. Nearly every product one sees in the shop, supermarket has gone through the manufacturing process. Such products as soap, sugar, cooking fat, edible oils, canned juice and food, etc all have passed through the manufacturing assembly line.
