Bachelor of Science in Microbiology- The course and where you can work.

Bachelor of Science in Microbiology is a medical science degree course that trains one to be able to identify the causes of diseases and develop the prevention and cure of the diseases. It is the study of the various microorganisms like viruses, bacteria, algae, protozoan, and fungi, and their activities.

The very nature of the course demands that one will need to work in laboratories most of the time. A degree in microbiology prepares students for a wide range of employment opportunities in clinical and public health fields, biotechnology, environmentally related fields, and industries concerning food, water quality, pharmaceuticals, and medical equipment and supplies. Some of the major employers of Micro Biology graduates include the public hospitals, Ministry of health, KEMRI, other medical related NGOs, Community health NGOs and some private hospitals. The course is offered in many Kenyan public and private Universities like the University of Nairobi.
