A few years ago, after getting some motivation, I began blogging. I wrote some good articles but did not have the slightest idea on marketing the posts. It was not until my 16th post that I decided to do something to improve the number of visitors and pageviews.
I became inquisitive and read many articles here and there . At one point I even purchased some online guide which turned out to be a scam. Despite the setback, I found various other reliable sources and implemented some strategies that have worked for me. This is therefore first hand information that I am about to share with you. It is important to distinguish the strategies into two categories
- On Site SEO>
- Off Site SEO>
- On Site SEO
- Publish articles relevant to post titles - it irks readers when a promising title fails to deliver related content in the post. This has a negative impact on return visitors.
- Use correct and proper labels in your posts.
- Link related posts
- Include rich search keywords in title, posts, descriptions and footer.
- Post frequently and regularly - determine the time of day you usually get your avalanche of visitors. It is best to publish at that time.
- Integrate social media plugins e.g facebook like and share button -this can be embeded below or at the top of a post. Its a great way to make your posts go viral.
- Off Site SEO
- Use social media to engage your audience - e.g facebook page, twitter handle and hash tags.
- Submit your sites Url to search engines - some search engines may not have crawled your site especialy if its new. They include Google, Yahoo, Bing, AskMe, Volumnia e.t.c
- Comment on other blogs and leave backlinks that lead back to your site. - This may also include guest blogging.
- Join blog agregators such as Technorati, Bloggers, Bloglines, Amatomu, Plazoo
Hi would you mind stating which blog platform you're using? I'm going
ReplyDeleteto start my own blog soon but I'm having a difficult time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I'm
looking for something unique.
P.S Apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!
