Bachelor of Science in Forensic science is a relatively knew course in Kenya & is offered in very few universities in Kenya e.g Kenyatta University. Forensic science is the
application of scientific principles
and methods to assist criminal
and civil investigations and
litigation.
The Forensic Science
undergraduate major is an
interdisciplinary collaboration
among academic units relevant
to forensic science.
The major provides students
with a strong foundation in the
biological and physical sciences
and introduces them to relevant
topics in forensic chemistry,
forensic anthropology, forensic
biology, and appropriate social
sciences. Students are educated
on the role of forensic scientists
in the criminal justice system and
how scientific evidence can be
used in that system.
The trend of forensic scientist being involved in crime scenes evidence collection has not yet caught up with Kenya, as the police are the only ones involved. However, there are private practitioners who are getting a fortune in this unexplored field.

Is forensic science related to criminal justice in any way?? Am in a dilemma between the two which one to study.
ReplyDeleteyes they are very related. They are also related to Criminoly, Penology and Law. Choose any amongst the four. Although,my advice is you go for Criminology first, because it's the widest of these three(not mentioning Law because Law has to do with prosecution not evidence collection)
