Bachelor of Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Potential Areas of Employment

This four year course is increasingly becoming popular in Kenya since its introduction a few years ago.Procurement is the entire process used to select suppliers and negotiate contracts for supply of resources i.e goods and services. Logistics on the other hand is the management of the flow of these resources from the point where they originate to their required destination in order to fulfill the requirements of clients, organizations and corporations. Therefore Procurement logistics is the processes of transportation, inventory management, warehousing, material handling and packaging.

A supply chain is a network of retailers, distributors, transporters, storage facilities, and suppliers that participate in the production, delivery, and sale of a product to the consumer. This means Supply chain management is the oversight of information, finances and materials as they are distributed all the way from supplier to consumer.

Procurement logistics has an emphasis on minimizing costs of supply and increasing services for organizations. The graduates can therefore get employment in the supply chain business. One can get hired as:-

• Transport and fleet manager
• Operations manager
• Logistics officer
• Stock controllers
• Clearing and forwarding officer

The course is offered in JKUAT, university of Nairobi, Kenyatta and Moi
