Bachelor of Science in Food Science is a course that is offered in some of the Public Universities.
It should not be confused with nutrition. At its core, the course deals mainly with processed foods, the manufacture and processing of food products, beverages and its storage. Some people are bound to think that the course deals with cooked food, but this is not true at all.
Some of the units one will pursue include biochemistry, food engineering, etc. The major employers of Food science graduates include Coca-Cola, East African Breweries, Keroche Breweries, Del Monte, Bidco, kappa oil refineries, KCC, Cadbury and any other company that deals with foods such as wheetabix, chocolate, fruit juice etc.
