Ladies and gentlemen, on Sunday, the 6th of November, Myrobi, The iHub and Ushahidi Inc cordially invites you to join us at the community centre in Kibera for an afternoon of art, music, football, food and talent. It’s granted that we all work very hard all the time and we want this event to be something where we can all just get together and have a good time. Because lord knows, we need it. A chance to unwind, meet different people, dance, drink and eat. And all of it done for a good cause.
This event will be a chance for you to meet the thriving football team, the Kiberastas and get to see where they come from. With three teams, the Under 13’s, the Under 15’s and the senior squad, the entire Kiberastas football movement consists of 60 players and a coaching staff of about 5.
On this special day, Myrobi will officially be unveiling for the first time, Ushahidi Inc as one of the Sponsors, the kits for the Kiberastas and much more. Working hand in hand with Mpira Mtaani and Vision Africa, we hope to involve other creative groups as well. The is a way that the iHub community and Ushahidi are giving back in a small way in support of a big thing. We’re not sure where the partnership will take us yet, but we’re committed to seeing the kids have fun playing soccer. We’re also thinking of ways that we can bring our technical expertise to the Kiberastas as well.
The event will have spoken word recitals by Wamathai’s poetry group, face painting for the kids and the adults who are kids at heart and perhaps a small art exhibition by the Kibera Art School.
Quite simply, it’s a chance to collaborate with other charitable organizations in Kibera.
The plan is to start the event off by 1pm and go on until about 6pm. For newbies to Kibera and people who don’t know where Mpira Mtaani is located, we’ll organize to meet at Prestige Plaza by 12:30pm and then make our way to the place.
