Bachelor of Science (Environmental and Bio-systems Engineering) and Potential Areas of Employment

The environment we live in supplies us with almost all the resources we need for our survival. Different technologies are used to extract some of these important resources. It is necessary that these technologies do not harm other equally important areas of the ecosystem which include air, water, soil, and other living beings. Environmental and bio-systems engineering therefore helps create technologies for the well-being of humans as well us the preservation and enhancement of the environment.

Bio-systems engineering integrates biological science with technology hence the skills may be applied to a wide array of biological applications. Environmental engineering on the other hand is a field that helps design environmental protection strategies for natural resources. The combination of these two fields applies the science and art of engineering to the design and management in the open systems of natural resources of air, soil and water in order to minimize the adverse impact of human activities and other processes on the natural environment.
